To be honest I've been playing. I've been making physical journals, and going to vintage stores to get some things to use in the making of those journals. I've also been learning how to make my own digital, printable journal items! It's fun! So far it's been mostly learning the program I'm using, and hunting down public domain images that I can use. I'm trying to come up with a way to make my own vintage looking ads and labels also. Wish me luck!!<br />
Here are the finished works I have done, that are available in my Etsy shop.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Hi crafty friends! I hope you had a wonderful Holiday Season and a Happy New Year!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I thought I would share with you how I made the tickets in the above banner tuck spot I've mocked up for a Valentine's Junk Journal I'm working on. This is super simple, and a very pretty way to add some color to plain tickets.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Step 1: Print and cut out your tickets, or use ready made. I only have a teal colored roll of tickets, so I printed these off. They are extra large on purpose. I wanted them that way. Finished cut out size is 1.5 inches wide by 3 inches long. I simply Googled blank ticket and found this image.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCxTl6qC2oj2ONAtn8kcLv41Ms4s_6R_Cdnea-n1xyKm5w2d-TVIyWq6nXM3CUddyHVJeDP-xADICdvncm0ZxG3fxKrcR82qo_-iDFHIbyQWZZUIet6QHq_s90vEYupM5jCn2nAgpTbEeH/s1600/20170105_153558.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCxTl6qC2oj2ONAtn8kcLv41Ms4s_6R_Cdnea-n1xyKm5w2d-TVIyWq6nXM3CUddyHVJeDP-xADICdvncm0ZxG3fxKrcR82qo_-iDFHIbyQWZZUIet6QHq_s90vEYupM5jCn2nAgpTbEeH/s320/20170105_153558.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Step 2: Using a glue stick I completely covered the cut out ticket with glue. I had to work fast, as glue stick glue dries fast. I smoothed out the napkin as well as I could so there were no air bubbles. You can use any paper napkin, tissue paper or even a paper towel. (You have to separate the layers, and use the top layer, in order to get the best adhesion, and most transparent look.) In the last picture I've included a mason jar cut out that has a green butterfly on it from one of our every day Wal-Mart brand paper towels. The sky is the limit!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Step 3: cut out your ticket. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiG9-EV9QvcWx2XjQHfxEDk4aWmL0aWE5JPQry858Gofr_TDtJuSe4wZ0cRnX5kDRP9GMgw-VOCsfuR2spsiGctPYgY3aobrPL5kbLVUACQ6pbww3msPBsX3DHFHWlFaIHyEImOz9ogVIGi/s1600/20170105_151947.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiG9-EV9QvcWx2XjQHfxEDk4aWmL0aWE5JPQry858Gofr_TDtJuSe4wZ0cRnX5kDRP9GMgw-VOCsfuR2spsiGctPYgY3aobrPL5kbLVUACQ6pbww3msPBsX3DHFHWlFaIHyEImOz9ogVIGi/s320/20170105_151947.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcTp1awFzDHqp-EgJ2fZpf6v_jJUriiM7PKMiEqlEYN1hGjzZZsDSnTIOJ8aKOg-3DrrJnlqFkHMueA28E4xN3RGRkcaCSF9M2wffL1wTjIhjIhtQ5Aj-qTY3fQt5T4EkEQ7V5wIHWo2U6/s1600/20170105_153207.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcTp1awFzDHqp-EgJ2fZpf6v_jJUriiM7PKMiEqlEYN1hGjzZZsDSnTIOJ8aKOg-3DrrJnlqFkHMueA28E4xN3RGRkcaCSF9M2wffL1wTjIhjIhtQ5Aj-qTY3fQt5T4EkEQ7V5wIHWo2U6/s320/20170105_153207.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Step 4: Do any stamping and then seal with clear drying glue.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<br />
Step 5: Once your glue is completely dry ink around the edges. Here I did both sides using Tim Holtz Distressed Ink in Vintage Photo.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjklgebHHS_yK3lja1Y9oMgIEkyaCWcyRlJDSxfx9kRPQhZMOB7rgPoFB6cOoowDj8nTh_qlyFu08LNRru2pTlCSWvkdDayGSDOfNZCilHu36vGC1UI-kspdyAo4X_WYFxCnC-SgqSiJOcy/s1600/20170105_153456.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjklgebHHS_yK3lja1Y9oMgIEkyaCWcyRlJDSxfx9kRPQhZMOB7rgPoFB6cOoowDj8nTh_qlyFu08LNRru2pTlCSWvkdDayGSDOfNZCilHu36vGC1UI-kspdyAo4X_WYFxCnC-SgqSiJOcy/s320/20170105_153456.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
That's it. See! I told you, it's super simple!! The lower picture is the finished product. You may have to lay your tickets under some heavy books for a day or so because they do tend to curl some. If you look at the very bottom picture, I show 2 mason jars cut from book pages, then covered in paper towel with a butterfly and a dragon fly. I did the word and heart stamping, but haven't had the time to finish up the inking around the edge. I think I might glue these to coffee dyed paper to make journaling tags. So if you try these let me know how they turn out for you! </div>

I thought I would show you how I've been doing my simple paper flowers. I cut out a bunch of circles from my scrap pieces of coffee dyed, designer, and music papers. I used 3 sizes 3/4", 1", and 1 1/4". <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinkpTXtb_egOY9CpTO8v3ZalSDzcGH0OtEcRT980eZHzlHFBUZdZ2DxdlE-DX1i4YlsqEDGHvlru88-Trj434ptDfHKnlUNylq-eK4CbohQQ2vgSFlHeDOyWQWfjTJkbWFBGirTSp4HBbX/s1600/20161016_173954.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinkpTXtb_egOY9CpTO8v3ZalSDzcGH0OtEcRT980eZHzlHFBUZdZ2DxdlE-DX1i4YlsqEDGHvlru88-Trj434ptDfHKnlUNylq-eK4CbohQQ2vgSFlHeDOyWQWfjTJkbWFBGirTSp4HBbX/s400/20161016_173954.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioDm66jMD5pG0qdCHeAKcwiSIc4rpCjAc0Up9TY0Id3RIP64lDkQY5peUPXMZP0ldsPWjhGA8ioCtl4E0shVUIUjk3VP54_tnexs-m-__F18dPOhX2e-xu-FmSESJ_SjEjkzXsnfNECxJS/s1600/20161016_210149.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioDm66jMD5pG0qdCHeAKcwiSIc4rpCjAc0Up9TY0Id3RIP64lDkQY5peUPXMZP0ldsPWjhGA8ioCtl4E0shVUIUjk3VP54_tnexs-m-__F18dPOhX2e-xu-FmSESJ_SjEjkzXsnfNECxJS/s400/20161016_210149.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Next I wadded them all up into loose balls, then unfolded them.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4k6QiyqKFU-C97kzHKZDBchvZYjmKfeFe-Ay8OgNjOMut-gesdveuvWQ-z38qID7wWvmM3AgwAsQsMrPw3nC18L432Lk_idu99jYrj1EfhIl9y-8sX06zfb7QG7dRi2Rfd1_XSsfil806/s1600/20161016_210632.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4k6QiyqKFU-C97kzHKZDBchvZYjmKfeFe-Ay8OgNjOMut-gesdveuvWQ-z38qID7wWvmM3AgwAsQsMrPw3nC18L432Lk_idu99jYrj1EfhIl9y-8sX06zfb7QG7dRi2Rfd1_XSsfil806/s400/20161016_210632.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Using vintage photo distress ink, I inked the circles<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9jq1Lpsn1dsjJwvjpKn5BjAbrjaskUR4qh0M7D2U-i8eGuMAf9_FFpAD4ZAkjSfHi9zxlRh6JUPhIm_ck7s9hYrOz4VpmH_o6XDo7hnExQC40v4cwXv1mm6H1rWN7J6KRPA-WzCa7b0Cg/s1600/20161016_210804.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9jq1Lpsn1dsjJwvjpKn5BjAbrjaskUR4qh0M7D2U-i8eGuMAf9_FFpAD4ZAkjSfHi9zxlRh6JUPhIm_ck7s9hYrOz4VpmH_o6XDo7hnExQC40v4cwXv1mm6H1rWN7J6KRPA-WzCa7b0Cg/s400/20161016_210804.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

See, super easy!! I hope you enjoyed this little tutorial. Take care and happy crafting!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16454499674377761234noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2269504548906158806.post-29553461644135101082016-09-19T13:03:00.002-07:002016-09-19T13:03:45.397-07:00Lots of stuff going on. At the beginning of the month we took a family mini vacation camping. It was me, my husband, our 3 kids ages 12, 6, 1. My mother and father-in-law and their middle son, his wife, and their 5 kids, ages 12, 10, 8, 7, and 1. So two toddlers tied us mom's to hanging out in the cabins or around the river swimming. The kids all had a blast so it was fun. We started our homeschool year 2 days after we came back. That's been occupying a good amount of my time. After all I have to relearn 6th grade math, to be able to help my oldest, and I have to beg my 1st grader to read. She loves to be read to, but doesn't enjoy it yet herself.<br />
<br />
I've been working on journals for etsy, and I was hoping to do a Gypsy Moon Glow Caravan show in the middle of October. It just looks so fun, but if I don't get hopping I won't have enough inventory!!<br />

My hubby did get me some stuff to make some fall and Halloween journals with though. He's a great guy like that. Always wanting to do things to surprise me and stuff.<br />

I've also been cleaning up an old bookcase that was in my hubby's shop at work. He's a mechanic so it held some really grimy things, but it's in great shape, is solid wood and is about 4ft square and 10 inches deep. Lots of storage for my crafty stuff!<br />

I'm so sorry I haven't posted in a while. I've been working on a lot of things. I'm down 55 pounds as of today! I've got a lot to go, but I'm getting there!!<br />
<br />
I'm working on getting journals done for the October craft fair season. I've been invited to 2 on the same day. Not sure which, if either, that I'll choose. I've bought a new set of stamps. I've sold one of the decoupage necklaces that I shared a mini tutorial for. I bought a lot of stickers from the Dollar Tree. They're beautiful, and look pretty vintage.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgG5J3lNW7foW8wjlYEziF2qY6Mb9bXwoNknQ7N09Lqevd3Tvo_5ofcDS6HpVohTxdCrZIagZrYjvYykSi70C10UqSzgdk88zVdkfxWZOvj-cJ9UFUjmJHo4Af3SHoG3pGeTTz8Rc6UPBCO/s1600/dollartreestickers1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgG5J3lNW7foW8wjlYEziF2qY6Mb9bXwoNknQ7N09Lqevd3Tvo_5ofcDS6HpVohTxdCrZIagZrYjvYykSi70C10UqSzgdk88zVdkfxWZOvj-cJ9UFUjmJHo4Af3SHoG3pGeTTz8Rc6UPBCO/s320/dollartreestickers1.jpg" width="192" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi09VQPDkUL-SGjk9g2d17Ynkph0LwW0sCy0nWt_Z_U_3FR-EfJwpAG-T9ciJKG6_i6n6SWpeo54c90t4JGJDerk5gIr8nBj0HdlsHzn-zLpQBIUgAtjba2pGQkLKJYgz9yv9LJJv9X8qws/s1600/dollartreestickers2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi09VQPDkUL-SGjk9g2d17Ynkph0LwW0sCy0nWt_Z_U_3FR-EfJwpAG-T9ciJKG6_i6n6SWpeo54c90t4JGJDerk5gIr8nBj0HdlsHzn-zLpQBIUgAtjba2pGQkLKJYgz9yv9LJJv9X8qws/s320/dollartreestickers2.jpg" width="192" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have also started reading Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I have started working on a journal for my bestie. I've been trying to catch up on housework before we start homeschool after we get back from vacation. I need to get all of my stuff together for vacation too. There aren't enough hours in the day. LOL I am never bored though that's for sure. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Oh a friend of mine over at Junk Journal Junkies on Facebook has opened an Etsy Shop. <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/SoulSearchinJournals">https://www.etsy.com/shop/SoulSearchinJournals</a> Go check it out. She just opened and already sold the first journal she posted. How awesome is that! Anyway have a great week everyone! I'll post again soon. I want to show how I print on tissue paper and then decoupage it onto what ever I want. I may do a "printed" candle tutorial soon also. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Happy Crafting and take care everyone!</div>
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16454499674377761234noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2269504548906158806.post-76132625260537454862016-08-10T12:41:00.001-07:002016-08-10T12:41:35.838-07:00Keto Diet update. Well it's been about 16 weeks, or 4 months, since I started the Keto way of eating. As of Monday, August, 8th, 2016, I've lost 51.5 lbs! I get frustrated some times because I'll see fluctuations of about a pound here and there, but I know it's water retention because I'm not keeping myself as hydrated as I should. The point is, it's working. I feel great, and I'm getting healthier. <br />
In September my family is going to go stay in some cabins with my In-Laws. There will be 14 of us in 3 cabins and tons of fun. Fishing, and swimming, grilling, games, etc. I can't wait. I have less than a month, and I would really like to hit 55 lbs lost by then. So keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I try to reach this goal. <br />
I've been looking up some recipes for easily made foods while we're there, because let's be honest, no one wants to spend their entire vacation cooking! My Sister-In-Law and I will be doing the majority of the cooking. I plan on doing Keto waffles for me, her and my Mom-In-Law since we're all doing low carb. I will make and freeze some homemade waffles for the rest of the group. We'll also be doing spaghetti one night for dinner, so I'm thinking we'll have zoodles! I'm so excited. I haven't been "camping" since I was a teenager!! I really hope my kids enjoy this. I've been wanting to take them camping for a long time but my hubby isn't a fan of camping in tents, so maybe this will change his mind some.<br />
Well that's all I have for now. I have to get back to mommy duties, and getting my journals and jewelry done for the craft fairs this fall. Wish me luck!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16454499674377761234noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2269504548906158806.post-34605627336310650562016-08-03T14:46:00.003-07:002016-08-03T14:46:32.462-07:00Quick Mini TutorialI know I've been busy and haven't been posting much lately. I've had some back trouble, and had VBS last Saturday. That was an awesome time!<br />
<br />
So I figure I should share something with you guys. I am trying to prep for Christmas afghans I'm working on for clients, and also get some inventory built up in my etsy shop and for my Fall Craft booth. One of the things I'm working on is pendants.<br />
<br />
I rolled out polymer clay about 1/8 of an inch thick and cut it into 1 1/2 inch squares, and baked per the package directions.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEja0z9COyGenkB0y006O0tInSsB1B-mXOf8eZdbaLz_heMKjo3-e2z5TSPUnzwNuxKdn1TitWGIvNUu_SYCssKcArt1lnHKYY19aPYbQXt3RMz_5-7ncNTdG1OOYrq5lbhPULNZqCNhIqQP/s1600/clayinchies1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEja0z9COyGenkB0y006O0tInSsB1B-mXOf8eZdbaLz_heMKjo3-e2z5TSPUnzwNuxKdn1TitWGIvNUu_SYCssKcArt1lnHKYY19aPYbQXt3RMz_5-7ncNTdG1OOYrq5lbhPULNZqCNhIqQP/s320/clayinchies1.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
<br />
While those were baking I chose a collage page to use as my background. I chose to do some in black and white so I copied my vintage brown paper in the copy machine.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFwEUV6D2M5TU8NLrGy4wJsbXCwGxp_ArHVLZVwceIezHHnpMrarSfquOV1Xo0ZATrFAXhncRHH2CHSjxlLny7GU8ZZWOx9iHDcn8Xova1we8VaOU5X7adwHa_kT7dw6aQXFV3trLm0Vow/s1600/clayinchies2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFwEUV6D2M5TU8NLrGy4wJsbXCwGxp_ArHVLZVwceIezHHnpMrarSfquOV1Xo0ZATrFAXhncRHH2CHSjxlLny7GU8ZZWOx9iHDcn8Xova1we8VaOU5X7adwHa_kT7dw6aQXFV3trLm0Vow/s320/clayinchies2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Then I chose my background and cut it out slightly bigger than my clay tile. I applied a liberal amount of white glue to the tile, pressed the image onto the tile and when dry I cut the excess paper from the tile. I also tried to decopage a rose onto it, but the black tiles were too dark. *duh, I know lol* <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next I took my finger and patted a bit of white paint over the background, and when it dried I glued on this lovely lady, also in black and white. Then when it was all dried I inked around the edges in black to match the tile.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I ended up putting a jewel on this one in the corner then sealing with Glossy mod podge, and then I went over that with an acrylic sealer to avoid the sticky feel. You could use Glossy Accents, or resin epoxy, or any number of gloss sealers.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You can do pretty much anything you want with these. Here's a shot of the few I've finished and sealed. I still have to put the bails on. I really like the way they have turned out. Oh, and yes, they are different sizes. Mostly because I used two different cutters, but these are hand made not assembly line and are supposed to original. That just adds to their charm. ;)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I've just gotten into making journals out of manila envelopes. This one is made from a 6 X 9 inch manila envelope. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQipEz5IgZmT2k7CQNLHInC2Nq7isQBaP-C-96nWkbArggDjQSXXPePnl5R96bjOO3zYcZwwxjToeOOPoG23TDnq0RiMwLD42HOe9LIExgvCVz0dvxZ6XUzHDdVAOsSi6Lk3wG7pdFLVZV/s1600/envelopejournal1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQipEz5IgZmT2k7CQNLHInC2Nq7isQBaP-C-96nWkbArggDjQSXXPePnl5R96bjOO3zYcZwwxjToeOOPoG23TDnq0RiMwLD42HOe9LIExgvCVz0dvxZ6XUzHDdVAOsSi6Lk3wG7pdFLVZV/s320/envelopejournal1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There is a pocket in both the front and back covers.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqgC1eIJIrCF3KCCzdiRJlfAG8I_qDRnxGAKf_lP1RXlgmy8I_RTXi-FAs4XLxPAz08JLsgjutIJSStytCEIa-gk7IX7sHOrd2maiPn9RVppvB18XkpYo2nmpVbCtQre6G07Ud17Sde_oJ/s1600/envelopejournal2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqgC1eIJIrCF3KCCzdiRJlfAG8I_qDRnxGAKf_lP1RXlgmy8I_RTXi-FAs4XLxPAz08JLsgjutIJSStytCEIa-gk7IX7sHOrd2maiPn9RVppvB18XkpYo2nmpVbCtQre6G07Ud17Sde_oJ/s320/envelopejournal2.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
To begin I lay out the envelope flat, and remove the clasp if it has one.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTmJj9J35ysatB8ukRVLGyPyzFESqgsXrYl2yK_hQXPk727YCC5XJSpfdkwZ-zpmZcQjopv-RxQRD2C5D-c723eT6aMbGu6OE8X58KOBnfHQhiLb_2Af50sZSJP6LqT8KhU2HJZB2WibrS/s1600/envelopejournaltut1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTmJj9J35ysatB8ukRVLGyPyzFESqgsXrYl2yK_hQXPk727YCC5XJSpfdkwZ-zpmZcQjopv-RxQRD2C5D-c723eT6aMbGu6OE8X58KOBnfHQhiLb_2Af50sZSJP6LqT8KhU2HJZB2WibrS/s320/envelopejournaltut1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzOK_5mOtOuKgLVNsRb_2vSSx68vjkalzsiDPnS_sCoi_AGoY6hO9PpKC1XhtmJbRYrSxbANEIdCr_HlMyRE-Bgl6soRrLnVlKZXSfE6fudHForQ57BKC5FxxJDmfU7uJKGrGE6LP5viq-/s1600/envelopejournaltut2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzOK_5mOtOuKgLVNsRb_2vSSx68vjkalzsiDPnS_sCoi_AGoY6hO9PpKC1XhtmJbRYrSxbANEIdCr_HlMyRE-Bgl6soRrLnVlKZXSfE6fudHForQ57BKC5FxxJDmfU7uJKGrGE6LP5viq-/s320/envelopejournaltut2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next I make sure all of the overlapping places are securely closed. We will be matting over these places and do not want the extra lumps of a loose flap. After that is done, trim a super thin sliver off of the bottom closed end of the envelope. This will be the pocket in the front cover of the journal. I'm sorry but I didn't take a picture of the gluing or trimming.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next I measured 1/2 an inch from the flap fold and marked it lightly in pencil on the top and bottom.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEignFECWYZMcCSZVfR7M-Ria_n1iV8u-2Zz9FRDIBoa0jZ2WsT7mckCYrET2ndJftUjZB63uZUPxi0Y0FzzLrOZzM8P1t_MXZ8VR3XWfC8BIdvYQJgseEaSbhmb6I49Y0-ca4NqvebNcgM_/s1600/envelopejournaltut3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEignFECWYZMcCSZVfR7M-Ria_n1iV8u-2Zz9FRDIBoa0jZ2WsT7mckCYrET2ndJftUjZB63uZUPxi0Y0FzzLrOZzM8P1t_MXZ8VR3XWfC8BIdvYQJgseEaSbhmb6I49Y0-ca4NqvebNcgM_/s320/envelopejournaltut3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In the picture I drew a line so you could see better where I was talking about. Then I make angular cuts to make folding the marked part of paper inside the envelope easier. I put the piece of paper in the cut, so you can see how I angled mine.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlrTMvRNo8zAUwLEs5MYI307nzk1mA-n3JEv7e_641cqzrkSoQIunIJZY_qmG4hS6dk3JUDN6ONILUH9QC56NA3Nxp12SYRajoW6IgJUD8HCbDGEtC8ygue5iw7bXEEhxlxuxgX708DpqS/s1600/envelopejournaltut4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlrTMvRNo8zAUwLEs5MYI307nzk1mA-n3JEv7e_641cqzrkSoQIunIJZY_qmG4hS6dk3JUDN6ONILUH9QC56NA3Nxp12SYRajoW6IgJUD8HCbDGEtC8ygue5iw7bXEEhxlxuxgX708DpqS/s400/envelopejournaltut4.jpg" width="298" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I then applied glue, white craft glue, to the inside of paper to be folded, and tucked it under.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSrzncqhoOwctb3AUvfNNJYyDc6jLhsigIRjqEC4QfgBi5gy0MxU8ib796Ro4TrvFkjc8rgKKSzsS5mt9gBHVWhFDLg6gsLxJixlVoiwa8tgyjNEPa4EAd2QscVIb9TbBa5t6osRBLUG8F/s1600/envelopejournaltut5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSrzncqhoOwctb3AUvfNNJYyDc6jLhsigIRjqEC4QfgBi5gy0MxU8ib796Ro4TrvFkjc8rgKKSzsS5mt9gBHVWhFDLg6gsLxJixlVoiwa8tgyjNEPa4EAd2QscVIb9TbBa5t6osRBLUG8F/s320/envelopejournaltut5.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next snip off those little corner pieces sticking out.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjofZfd94KQIaQA6WGs-95pIE6QI-uB3qlbtqJqoNXxXm4Y9JNqp-Myi1K9maQk7w4MiLmWqQG32kKwfCjF8hQmRQv-zHhiAYQzV5ZAB61JbtO0YCkzEl8MwGIChNSVS4Bey2qjvASYYaLo/s1600/envelopejournaltut6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjofZfd94KQIaQA6WGs-95pIE6QI-uB3qlbtqJqoNXxXm4Y9JNqp-Myi1K9maQk7w4MiLmWqQG32kKwfCjF8hQmRQv-zHhiAYQzV5ZAB61JbtO0YCkzEl8MwGIChNSVS4Bey2qjvASYYaLo/s320/envelopejournaltut6.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Measure in again from the flap fold on both sides. This time only go in 1/4 inch, and fold. This will be your flap spine.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjl9WwfosE0zvKYVQqyYMjt8xZu7Biq_aVwuHVLkcHnhWx45vjeDJBYJspTybYwiMC8EHHlHWiNV0IFGagJ5TgT6l089bA7hp57XNKjs9BW1xBhd55IKyAjg4fZ8v4QV4WxTwxX27KsXmin/s1600/envelopejournaltut8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjl9WwfosE0zvKYVQqyYMjt8xZu7Biq_aVwuHVLkcHnhWx45vjeDJBYJspTybYwiMC8EHHlHWiNV0IFGagJ5TgT6l089bA7hp57XNKjs9BW1xBhd55IKyAjg4fZ8v4QV4WxTwxX27KsXmin/s320/envelopejournaltut8.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next make your center spine. I folded the bottom edge (that we cut the sliver off of ) to the original fold line of the flap, and then measured going from that line, toward the flap, 1/4 inch. This will be your spine.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPLWZ6gU2JyZg0sVdgaKk68oE7CVZdSPmzZp5eXfeMOvKKG9SXwU4ZBRtzjYH4ItC0cm2mwxMsCaak3zpk5cCklBhe7lBjOo0eqTHqN70tUWNBlDqiLqxd5rRMGCjNw5XT9HckcfTF3_bN/s1600/envelopejournaltut9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPLWZ6gU2JyZg0sVdgaKk68oE7CVZdSPmzZp5eXfeMOvKKG9SXwU4ZBRtzjYH4ItC0cm2mwxMsCaak3zpk5cCklBhe7lBjOo0eqTHqN70tUWNBlDqiLqxd5rRMGCjNw5XT9HckcfTF3_bN/s320/envelopejournaltut9.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
From here I just matted the front and back covers and sewed in my two, six page signatures and added a button closure and ribbon to wrap around it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
These can be as fancy or as plain as you want! Experiment and have fun! Happy Crafting!</div>

Crafting on a limited budget doesn't mean you can't have all of the embellishments that you desire. All it takes is some creativity and patience. What I've done is to go around the house and find objects similar in size to what I wanted. I found circles in many sizes, a raffle ticket, a baby food container lid (the plastic rectangle containers) a foam star that fell off of one of the projects the girls made at church, a journaling card that I was gifted, and a banner I made.<br />

I made the most amazing popsicles today! Sugar free, Keto friendly, and they tasted like Orange Dreamsicles. You'll need a blender.<br />
1 4serving pkg of sugar free orange jello (but you can use any flavor)<br />
1 1/2 cups of ice <br />
1/3 cup boiling water<br />
1/3 cup of ice cold water<span class="text_exposed_hide">...</span><span class="text_exposed_show"><br /> 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract<br /> 2 Tablespoons Heavy Whipping Cream<br /> sweetener, I used a squirt of stevia liquid, </span></div>
<div class="text_exposed_show">
Mix the jello and boiling water, and disolve powder, then add ice cold water and set to the side.<br />
In blender put ice cubes, vanilla and sweetener, and whipping cream, then pour in jello water. Blend until smooth. This can be a single serving, that's how the recipe came to me, minus 1Tbsp of the heavy cream. I add the second one for a little more volume as I'm putting mine into 8 popsicle molds. If you're using as a single serving, you can eat as soon as you've blended it smooth. For pops, just spoon into your molds, then put the sticks in and freeze for about 2 or 3 hours and that's it. My kids LOVE them just as much as I do.</div>
<div class="text_exposed_show">
I count the whole recipe as one carb, as there are only .43 carbs per tablespoon of liquid Heavy whipping cream.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvetyFJGBJCBmpHFVqnuegKDk3-DhtL2XMWnFga9T2dNW2dt-5LRYW88-V1W_fjs0lKh1Q51fQw8rIvKavA7yu84kBQFqR8Qn3H4qfcuuoMZtBH_kHSP2UA_r6M9pmHYiXyNgENftdMgQ0/s1600/Ketopopsicle.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvetyFJGBJCBmpHFVqnuegKDk3-DhtL2XMWnFga9T2dNW2dt-5LRYW88-V1W_fjs0lKh1Q51fQw8rIvKavA7yu84kBQFqR8Qn3H4qfcuuoMZtBH_kHSP2UA_r6M9pmHYiXyNgENftdMgQ0/s320/Ketopopsicle.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is the Strawberry Banana flavor I made. I didn't add the Vanilla and used a cup of frozen strawberries in place of 1 cup of the ice. Now this will up the carb count significantly. 1 Cup of frozen berries is 10 net carbs, and this recipe made 10 popsicles, so that would make them around 1 carb per pop. Still not a bad treat for the summer time!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In the background is my first attempt at making cloud bread. Not too bad, good for a sandwich, but I think I'll try soul bread soon. Any fellow low carbers out there have any recipe suggestions?</div>

Diet Comparison, and update on projects and life in general.Happy Saturday Lovlies! I almost didn't get to post this week, but here I am! Today is my 2 month Ketogenic diet anniversary. Guess what! 35 pounds down! I have been looking at my results from Ketogenic dieting, vs. my Weight Watchers days. When I did Weight Watchers, I started on March 16th, 2011. I was a little over 1 year post partum from my middle child. This year I started eating Keto on my son's one year birthday. So the difference between Weight Watchers has been this; I don't feel hungry all the time, and I have lost significantly more. I don't graze all day long like I did on WW. I lost a good amount of weight the 6 months I was doing the program, BUT there were no restrictions! I could eat anything I wanted if it was in my points. Thus the addiction to sugar and junk foods was not broken. I still ate snack cakes, and candy bars and ice cream. Don't get me wrong, I don't deprive myself now, I have frozen whipped cream mixed beat with sugar free jello and that sates my cravings. I eat whole foods, no more boxed foods for me. I make my own crackers and breads, and I know what goes into everything I eat.<br />
Now, I will say this, last Saturday I had a slip up. I deliberately ate popcorn at the movies with my hubby last Saturday. Then I ate pizza for dinner. Not my pizza... Little Caeser's. I could not believe I did it, but I was starving. The card readers in the area where we were, were down. So we had to rely on our cash.. We had a whole whopping $5.50 between the two of us. So Pizza it was. It wasn't even that great. I mean I remember loving the flavor, and yeah it was good, but it wasn't really something I'd come to miss. I paid for it Sunday though. I was in so much gastric distress. My hands and feet swelled up within an hour of eating it. I hurt, I was nauseated to the point I couldn't move without wanting to throw up. I was so bad, that we missed church because of the hangover feeling I had.<br />
I eat pizza now, and I get the thin and crispy crust that I prefer, all from making a skillet pizza. I just put about half a cup of shredded cheese in a frying pan sprayed with Pam, and shape it into a round shape as it starts to melt. Then while it's still gooey, I put on my toppings. Pepperonis, olives, mushrooms... Whatever you like! Then wait till the bottom starts to turn brown, you'll see it around the edges. When all of the cheese is good and melted and the toppings are fully "attached" use a spatula to help unstick any portions of the pizza from the pan, and slide out onto a plate. As the pizza cools it will solidify, and the bottom will turn into a cracker crisp crust, that in my opinion rivals that of Domino's thin crust. Now you can add tomato or pizza sauce, but I've never really cared for that much sauce on pizza so I don't miss it. Depending on the type of cheese you use, your total carbs is only like 2 for a whole personal pizza. <br />
<br />
Now on to the mermaid afghan I'm working on. The pattern I shared in my other post, I'm just still following the established shell pattern. It says to work for 50 rows. I'm about 15 into it. I know I'm working slow, but my 1 year old gets jealous of anything else in my lap besides him. ;) So I only get to work on it in the van, or when he's asleep. Usually when he's asleep is when I journal craft, after I do some laundry or other household chores. <br />
Speaking of crafting. I'm doing a journal swap with the wonderful Marge who sent me that giant envelope of ephemera! I can't wait till it's done, and we've swapped so that I can show you guys the beautiful journal I've made, and to show you the one that she has lovingly made for me!<br />
<br />
I also had a sale in my Etsy store of one of my journals. My favorite journal, the Butterfly Journal. I screwed up and only charged 8 dollars shipping. The buyer is from Australia. It's going to cost me 22.75 to ship it. The journal was only 30 total with shipping. Gah! Oh well lesson learned! lol<br />
<br />
So that has been my week guys! I hope you all have a great week. Keep crafting, and leave me some feedback about what you want to read about. Do you have a new craft technique you want to learn about, but don't want to try it until someone else does? Let me know. I'll see if I can do a review. I'm up for anything! <br />
Take care lovelies! Bye!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16454499674377761234noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2269504548906158806.post-6687040107605204822016-06-13T21:11:00.002-07:002016-06-13T21:11:32.082-07:00Gifted Ephemera!Hi lovelies! Yes, yes, I missed last week. I'm horrible lately. It's like I just can't get it together and I'm side tracked by everything. I'm still doing the low carb way of eating. I'm down 30 pounds now. I have a lot left to lose, but you know what? I'm okay with that. I'm working on a healthier me. Unhealthy me didn't wake up one morning fat, I surely won't wake up skinny. ;) <br />
<br />
Now on to my lovely gift from my new friend from the Junk Journal Junkies group. She's a totally sweet woman, awesomely devoted grandma, and super generous to boot! Thank you Marge for sharing your treasures with me! I am so blessed by you!<br />
<br />
Now to show all you lovelies just what was in my darling package.<br />

And here are the lovely bits of ribbon and trims she wrapped my lovely gifts in, and some vintage buttons on cards!! I almost just want to store all of these lovely things in a box just so when I'm having a bad day I could open it up and rifle through it. Paper and books bring me peace.<br />
<br />
So that's my share. My heartfelt thanks go out to Marge for this package. She has no idea how much this made my week!<br />

Chocolate Hazelnut 90 Keto Cake recipe!Hi lovelies! Just an update. I'm still around, keeping on keeping on! I'm now down 26 lbs thanks to my Low Carb High Fat (Ketogenic) diet! I love it. For breakfast today I had two baked chicken thighs, for lunch I'm having 2 scrambled eggs mixed in with 1 cup of stir fried, shredded cabbage. I stir fried it in about half a teaspoon of sesame oil, and a teaspoon of soy sauce. Yes, I know coconut aminos are better for you but I'm allergic to coconut, so I stay away from anything derived from coconut. I could have used Tamari, but hey, I'm cheap and live in a rural area. Good luck finding that on a whim. Ha ha! I did have a good week though. Last Monday was Memorial day. We spent that BBQing with family. The kids played with their cousins outside and in the pool all day. The guys played lawn games while us women folk relaxed with the babies.<br />
<br />
Ooh and guess what CiCi's pizza has a low carb pizza! You go in and pay to eat the buffet, you put in your special request with one of the pizza chefs, and a few minutes later out comes a tinfoil pan with a HUGE amount of cheese and toppings. You can get ANY of their toppings made into a crustless pizza. I got mushrooms, olives, peppers, ham and pepperoni. They threw in some onions too, but that's cool I like onions. I went a bit over my daily allotment of calories (1500) and my carbs (20), BUT I didn't eat anything wheat or corn or rice. I didn't eat dessert either! I then went for a stroll around our local Wal-Mart Super Center for at least half an hour so I did get some extra walking in. <br />
<br />
I also came up with a new 90 second bread "cake" Sorry no pictures, but it was so yummy! I will probably make this as my personal birthday cake for my birthday coming up at the end of the month.<br />
<br />
Chocolate Hazelnut 90 second cake<br />
1 Tbsp Almond flour<br />
2 Tbsp Ground Golden Flaxseed<br />
1 1/2 Tbsp melted butter<br />
1 1/2 Tbsp Sugar Free Hazelnut coffee syrup<br />
1/2 tsp of baking powder.<br />
1 Tbsp unsweeted cocoa powder<br />
1 egg<br />
<br />
Mix all together very, very well, pour into a mug, or small square container. I use a sandwich keeper for lunch boxes that looks like a bread slice. Pour into oiled or sprayed container and microwave for 90 seconds. Some microwaves vary. If your "cake" is still runny in the middle microwave for 20 seconds more. I sprinkle mine with splenda over the top. like less than half a pack.<br />

I haven't touched my mermaid afghan again... I need to get on it, but I had to finish my Butterfly Garden journal. You can check it out <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/385401722/butterfly-garden-junk-journal?ref=shop_home_active_1" target="_blank">here (click the word here).</a> I'm fond of it. Not as fond of it as I am the Little Birdie journal, but I love how my butterfly tuck spots came out. Too cute!<br />

Low carb high fat has been interesting to say the least. I found myself completely breaking down like what I would assume an addict would do on night number 2. I just wanted something, anything, that was carb laden. Cookies, French fries, anything! I was hateful to everyone. I started on a Monday, and by Wednesday night at church, I was praying that no one would say anything that would make me break. I couldn't be sure if I would cry, or if the devil himself would crawl out of my mouth. Amazing isn't it? We allow inanimate things to dictate our lives and our behaviors. I remember crying and telling my husband I hated him because his metabolism allows him to eat anything he wants. I was in pain, not figuratively, real physical pain. They call it Keto Flu, and I had a brief go round with it. Still I pushed through. I'm not sure if it was God alone, or all of the prayers from my Wednesday night group, or just that my body detoxed quickly enough that the joint pains and cravings didn't have a chance to topple me. What I do know, is that I'm missing carbs less and less, and that I'm seeing inches and pounds lost. My weight loss has slowed, but I'm attributing it a few days I felt "hollow". No matter what I ate I was hungry feeling, and ate way over my normal calories. I've also been eating Atkins snack bars. One every day. A lot of people say that it stalls them. So I'm going to cut them out too and see if that makes a difference. <br />
As of today I've lost 21.4 pounds. I've dropped my BMI by 4 points and I have lost around 4 inches just in my waist. <br />
<br />
Here are some sample dinners I've had, just in the past two weeks.<br />
1. Steak with mushrooms fried in garlic butter and zucchini noodles in Alfredo Sauce.<br />
2. Hamburger steak with mozzarella cheese and bacon, celery sticks, a pickle, and ranch dressing.<br />
3. Pan fried tilapia, served over garlic butter zucchini noodles garnished with pan roasted almond slices.<br />
4. Keto friendly Cauliflower crust pizza.<br />
I must say that the zucchini noodles are probably my all time favorite! <br />

So this is my weight loss journey so far. Hopefully soon I will get some pictures so that as my weight loss progresses I can share the changes I'm seeing. I have a long way to go, and I know it will take a long(ish) time to get there. Please feel free to share your weight loss goals, plans, and victories. Have a great week everyone!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16454499674377761234noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2269504548906158806.post-48699553333882805972016-05-24T16:57:00.002-07:002016-05-24T16:57:16.927-07:00Garden Journal picsI've posted another journal to my etsy store. Yes, two posts in one day since I was so behind this week. Tonight for dinner we all had pizza. Yep, even me the no grains, rice, pasta, potatoes and sugar lady. I made myself my own pizza with a cauliflower crust. I have to say I was both skeptical and hopeful. I really love pizza. I mean when I was pregnant with little man, my youngest told me that she thought I was going to have a baby Ninja Turtle, because I ate so much pizza. So here's the <a href="http://onelittleproject.com/cauliflower-pizza-crust/" target="_blank">Link</a> to the pizza crust recipe I tried. Debbie made a beautiful pizza. Mine wasn't so pretty, but it sure tastes good! I think I left my crust a bit thicker than I should have but, that's an easy fix. I didn't have parchment paper, so I just oiled up the pan with olive oil spray, and baked according to her directions. It got beautifully golden brown.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This is my pizza.<br />
This is the recipe.<br />
<br />
Ingredients<br />
<div class="ingredients">
<ul class="ingredients">
<li class="ingredient">1 small head or 2/3 large head of cauliflower</li>
<li class="ingredient">¼ cups Parmesan Cheese</li>
<li class="ingredient">¼ cups Monterey Jack Cheese</li>
<li class="ingredient">¼ teaspoons Sea Salt</li>
<li class="ingredient">½ teaspoons Dried Basil</li>
<li class="ingredient">½ teaspoons Dried Oregano</li>
<li class="ingredient">½ teaspoons Garlic Powder</li>
<li class="ingredient">1 Egg</li>
</ul>
</div>
<div class="ingredient">
These are the instructions given on the blog.</div>
<ol>
<li>Cut off the florets. You don’t need the stem.</li>
<li>Pulse in the food processor until you get cauliflower “snow”. You should end up with 2 to 3 cups.</li>
<li>Cover the cauliflower and microwave for about 4 or 5 minutes.</li>
<li>Dump the cauliflower out onto a paper towel and clean tea towel and let it cool off.</li>
<li>Preheat the oven to 450ºF. Place your cookie sheet in the oven to heat it up.</li>
<li>Wrap up the cauliflower in the dish cloth and paper towel and wring out as much excess water as you can.</li>
<li>Combine the Parmesan cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, sea salt, dried basil, dried oregano, garlic powder, and cauliflower in a medium bowl.</li>
<li>Mix it together with a spoon to combine the ingredients. Then add the egg and use your hands to form it into a dough ball.</li>
<li>Pat it down gently onto a piece of parchment paper with oil spread (or sprayed) onto it.</li>
<li>Use your hands to form it into a pizza crust, about 1/4″ thick.</li>
<li>Optional: Slide the parchment paper onto the heated up cookie sheet and bake the crust without any toppings for about 8 to 11 minutes until it is golden brown.</li>
<li>Remove from the oven and add your toppings. (I highly recommend spreading on a bit of olive oil and topping it with feta cheese, mozzarella cheese, kalamata olives, red onion, cherry tomatoes and parsley.)</li>
<li>Bake it for another 5 to 7 minutes with your toppings on it.</li>
<li>Note: If you are only going to bake it once, leave it in for about 15 to 17 minutes.</li>
</ol>
<div class="ingredient">
According to my calculations according to my cheese packages and egg carton, and the internet's help for the medium head of cauliflower I used, one entire crust has:</div>
394 Calories<br />
17.58g of Fat<br />
33g of Carbs<br />
14g of Fiber<br />
and 32g of Protein.<br />
You can adjust your personal Macros by adding your toppings and then dividing by the number of slices you cut.<br />

This week has been a been a bit hectic. The baby started walking this past week!! He's been everywhere, and into everything. The new way of eating is still going good. If the rain would stop and the air would warm up nice and good and stay that way, I would be more inclined to go out walking and be spending more time outside. As of Friday, I'm down 21 lbs and have reached my first mini goal. I've also started making my own iced coffees to follow LCHF living. In case you're interested, I'll share my recipe. <br />
Keto-Friendly French Vanilla Iced Coffee<br />
<br />
Take a cup of ice and put it in a cup or glass that holds about 20 ounces. To it add:<br />
10 oz. of cold coffee,<br />
2 tbsps. Sugar Free French Vanilla coffee syrup, I use a brand from the Dollar Tree that I really like, but DaVinci brand is good too.<br />
and 1 tbsp. heavy whipping cream.<br />
<br />
It tastes very good, and I have one every afternoon as a sweet treat.<br />
<br />
Next, I've finally started working on my first of a few Mermaid Tail Afghans. This one I'm making for one of my daughters. I'm doing the small size since the pattern author says it will fit a child 4-5 feet tall. My 11 year old is just a little over 5 feet, so I guess that will be a deciding factor as to who gets the first one. I'm trying to save some money by using only stash yarn. I'm also practicing this pattern because I've been getting orders from friends for Mermaid Tail Afghans already!<br />
<a href="https://yarnutopia.com/2015/04/29/how-to-crochet-video-tutorial-mermaid-tail-afghan-pattern-3-sizes-small-child-medium-teen-large-adult/" target="_blank">This</a> is the blog of the tail I'm going to make. She does a great job with the pattern, but she also has a video that shows you step by step! <br />
<br />
So far I've only finished the first 3 rows. I just started last night, and well, I was trying to do it with a 1 year old squirming on my lap. It was slow going at best. Ha ha! I'm using this blog to try to keep me accountable to get these things done, all while continuing my journals for etsy. Here's my progress: <br />
Ch 153<br />
<div>
<strong>Row 1: </strong>dc in 3rd ch from hook and across, ch 1, turn (150 dc)</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<strong>Row 2</strong>: *sc in first dc, skip 2 dc, 5dc in next st, skip 2 dc, repeat from * across, ch 3, turn (25 shells made)</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<strong>Row 3:</strong> 2dc in same spot you chained up 3, skip 2 dc,* sc in next dc (the middle dc of shell), sk 2 dc, 5dc into sc, repeat from * until you reach the last sc, 3dc in the last dc, ch 1, turn</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhFPZ39g-xltsmYLPvzVIwiLqWxhWSy48yIANP-rkqzhwD1Dnld66ieF11nAkMXl0lNGqypQunCaGGUi44ejmDuFB3Y0MjnGGft514oTLsxdohkRFizNUOHR2KPhvdHfkIjm3BVzBmL4AL/s1600/mermaidprogress.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhFPZ39g-xltsmYLPvzVIwiLqWxhWSy48yIANP-rkqzhwD1Dnld66ieF11nAkMXl0lNGqypQunCaGGUi44ejmDuFB3Y0MjnGGft514oTLsxdohkRFizNUOHR2KPhvdHfkIjm3BVzBmL4AL/s400/mermaidprogress.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is what those 3 rows look like if you do not do a foundation dc as your first 153. I wanted to keep this as simple as possible while checking out the pattern. So far it's just shell stitch, but looks very pretty. As I said I'm using stash yarn, but I really think that the alternating rows like the author does, or even a single colored yarn would look MUCH better!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Thanks for reading, and staying with me. I hope that I'm teaching or inspiring you all some how. If there's something you would like for me to try out, comment below and let me know! Till next time, take care! Bye!</div>

I hope you've had a great week. I've spent much of mine trying to recover from this horrible sinus infection. Blah! Anyway, I thought that I would come post some pics of my newest journal which can be found on Etsy.com in my shop, Color Tree Creations.<br />
<br />
Let's get started! This book was the vintage 1929 poem book. The binding was loose and the poems were a bit bawdy at times... LOL The spine was a bit ragged so I tried to reinforce it with some lace on the outside, and some heavy scrapbook paper inside.<br />

I'm sorry I've not posted anything this week. I've had two sick kids this week, and then last night (Thursday) I went to bed with a stopped up ear, and woke up with TWO stopped up ears and terrible sinus pressure. Blah. Anyway, I've been resting up trying to get better so that I can take my kids, who are all feeling better now, to the fair this weekend. <br />
I hope you're all doing well, and until next week, take care!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16454499674377761234noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2269504548906158806.post-11415505285097021192016-04-29T14:32:00.000-07:002016-04-29T14:32:03.012-07:00Hey lovelies! This week has gone by so fast for me. I've changed my eating habits. Yay me! Trust me I needed it. I started on Monday, and am down 7lbs and 2 3/8 inches around my waist already. Water is my new best friend. So because I needed a way to track my food, I decided to use the altered composition book I started on and never quite finished as my food journal. It's working out great. The first page is my progress sheet. There is space for weight, chest, waist, and arms.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1jVDeLlVk-SAVVhfSwhTqCytZEsA9upKbfH44XFH1mXAnEgWXOBXfDnZejG09TZTybbqWFNQB-YG1deBwpTlftN7YZosKLUeGHCSi3Oc_jzjKkWsGQqmt93pa8Ym8QQE8wCZ7yNpeHr6u/s1600/foodjournal1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1jVDeLlVk-SAVVhfSwhTqCytZEsA9upKbfH44XFH1mXAnEgWXOBXfDnZejG09TZTybbqWFNQB-YG1deBwpTlftN7YZosKLUeGHCSi3Oc_jzjKkWsGQqmt93pa8Ym8QQE8wCZ7yNpeHr6u/s400/foodjournal1.jpg" width="298" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I know that many people track thigh, and abdomen and neck measurements, but I'm not worried about that. I just want to make sure I can see NSVs(non scale victory).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The next page is my daily food entries, and the macros (macronutrients) I am tracking. I'm trying to make this a WOE(way of eating) not just a "diet", so the first page, morphed into the second one below as I have continued altering this food journal for my personal needs. I am tracking Fat, Net Carbs, Protein, and Calories. I am also tracking how much water I'm taking in, and want to make sure I get a minimum of 64 oz of water along with any other liquids I may consume. I also have a couple of boxes to track vitamins, I take a daily multi vitamin and sometimes a B supplement.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I also plan to start exercising regularly. When I start this I'll also be able to track all of my activity time all in one handy dandy tracker. There is also an other space on the new sheets that I'm using to jot down ideas or how I felt etc.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I did some in red, some in black, just because I wanted to. There is no significance. I have many other colored pens so I'll probably do some of my recipes in purple and green (my favorite colors). I know I 'm slow in getting my post up this week. I did go to a new book store. I found some great deals. I got 3 bags of books that I can make into journals for like a buck! I also got a vintage music lesson book. <br />
So to start off with the making of the Ebony Swan journal I removed the text block. I posted that in the previous post. The first embellishing I did was to glue down some lace on the front. Next I took a paperback book and tore up the pages and used them to decoupage the inside of the book, even the spine.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next I put together my signatures. Each signature consists of 14 pages each. I used the 5 hole pamphlet stitch to sew each signature one to a one inch wide piece of card stock. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I marked lines at 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 inch intervals and used this as a guide to place my signatures evenly. I then used my template which you see behind my spine, to poke the holes as I did for my signatures. Then I did the 5 hole pamphlet stitch, but I start from the back side to hide my tie off points. Most people don't. Here is a video if you need it. <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NvhTOzA-p9I">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NvhTOzA-p9I</a> </div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
First I get a length of waxed string (I make my own using bow wax and cotton embroidery thread) about three times the length of the signature. </div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1. Then I start sewing from the back side of the spine. I go through the middle hole in the spine and then the middle hole in the signature while leaving about an inch and a half for tying off. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTGe9IKZU-j2NZ-4a8pi04b7ogda_x-9kRmW9wijNH0dYtw8dspdwOlJ1Z_dfA4SGPHzJASC4qvsc4jJrS8f95Fn2KeK2CL6cpprnk6EiZBLTGhBLXEocWU_ubrpJBeVxaY4CYgzUYXf3i/s1600/5holepamphlet-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="478" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTGe9IKZU-j2NZ-4a8pi04b7ogda_x-9kRmW9wijNH0dYtw8dspdwOlJ1Z_dfA4SGPHzJASC4qvsc4jJrS8f95Fn2KeK2CL6cpprnk6EiZBLTGhBLXEocWU_ubrpJBeVxaY4CYgzUYXf3i/s640/5holepamphlet-1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
2. Next I go through the hole on the right of the middle hole from the paper side down and out through the spine.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
4. The next stitch goes down through the stitch on the left. It will be the second time going through that stitch.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
5. When you come out on the back side of the spine you will now move left again but will skip the middle stitch and instead go up through the second stitch from the left edge of the signature. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4lPpkSQEhWjho9ryviErXDTObHD8Gjqa-RSCaHgdo76wjCmYnwiTky0nwRvtZ8tYDnDVF00gPsD5OKyiEwXh_QQJWbrk6Ot2pAG0O3x9zk2LjJt2ligm8gr6NtNH_WGw0W4rXh_X4FCFk/s1600/5holepamphlet-5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="478" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4lPpkSQEhWjho9ryviErXDTObHD8Gjqa-RSCaHgdo76wjCmYnwiTky0nwRvtZ8tYDnDVF00gPsD5OKyiEwXh_QQJWbrk6Ot2pAG0O3x9zk2LjJt2ligm8gr6NtNH_WGw0W4rXh_X4FCFk/s640/5holepamphlet-5.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
6. After you come up through the whole signature you will go down through the very last hole on the left. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrip3w8jcMPmnt-l02VO6C3o27AT6Itd4_eAy47ulH13WG2t-lB4sEmzqimBMpUuv1bHJ8rvHjBQvxWK3GfTtSRdI8eT8TpZi9iztglZgDkHR0bs5KdLVsew8FNpU1KvoWXuYuS41YWzGC/s1600/5holepamphlet-6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="478" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrip3w8jcMPmnt-l02VO6C3o27AT6Itd4_eAy47ulH13WG2t-lB4sEmzqimBMpUuv1bHJ8rvHjBQvxWK3GfTtSRdI8eT8TpZi9iztglZgDkHR0bs5KdLVsew8FNpU1KvoWXuYuS41YWzGC/s640/5holepamphlet-6.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
7. The next stitch is made by coming back to the second stitch from the left and going up through it. This hole has already been gone through, but this time we're going the opposite way, just like in step 4.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglqllXNxwCt6OhXuskwHi78Vewd2TpS1iqcSmP8xS817FG6hYbF7rxaRrG5InP1HkNtsiI6bCeZ0RQFcVGq3NfKk9M0D8alEq5gvYzu3wA3C96k0oyFKZ7Up5WuXw5qu8DWLeRGjpJXqoe/s1600/5holepamphlet-7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="478" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglqllXNxwCt6OhXuskwHi78Vewd2TpS1iqcSmP8xS817FG6hYbF7rxaRrG5InP1HkNtsiI6bCeZ0RQFcVGq3NfKk9M0D8alEq5gvYzu3wA3C96k0oyFKZ7Up5WuXw5qu8DWLeRGjpJXqoe/s640/5holepamphlet-7.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
8. The last stitch is made by coming back through the signature through the middle hole from paper to spine side. When you come through make sure that your needle pokes out of the hole on the other side of the long stitch. So that one end of the thread is on either side of the long stitch. You will then tie this stitch off with a square knot. (Cross right over left and tie, then left over right and tie.)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9eXdMTgX3rlE7ImEcB0loHCOKHCjSHa4JQGi6SCE2qXKfTT8su00FUxSn957V0vnNTSDhRH3Pp_fYxF6DwheODzpdNSZYbzvjmsdSMKMlczvI0bis-yoXuqC3DvR2Jah2nnvyVooXEQ-q/s1600/5holepamphlet-9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="476" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9eXdMTgX3rlE7ImEcB0loHCOKHCjSHa4JQGi6SCE2qXKfTT8su00FUxSn957V0vnNTSDhRH3Pp_fYxF6DwheODzpdNSZYbzvjmsdSMKMlczvI0bis-yoXuqC3DvR2Jah2nnvyVooXEQ-q/s640/5holepamphlet-9.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
There you have it! One signature sewn into a glue in spine for your vintage book. I know that traditionally the tie off goes on the inside of the signature, but I do it this way to hide the knot since I'm gluing the spine into the book anyway. Repeat this for each signature you have, and you have a kind of text block for your journal.<br />
When I get better light(it's nearly midnight), I'll take some more pictures of the journal as a whole. I just really wanted to get the method I use for putting the signatures in up before the weekend was over.<br />

This weekend didn't go as planned. I didn't get all of my laundry done that I wanted to get done, nor did we go to church, but we did go to some thrift stores. At one I found 2 vintage books. One is from the 1920's called Laughing Ann and Other Poems. <br />

The other is this Buffalo Bill book from the American Adventure Series. I don't know why I bought the Buffalo Bill because we're now reading it as part of our homeschool. I don't know if I'll keep it as part of our home library or if I'll make it into a journal or what. As of right now I'm torn.<br />

Well the baby is napping, the kids are having a recess. I think I'll start putting together my signatures for the Ebony Swan journal.</div>

I finally got around to posting again this week. Yay! I will start out by posting pictures of an already finished journal I've made. I didn't take pictures as I worked because honestly I wasn't sure it would work. It did though, and I'm glad. I love it!<br />

I'm working on another journal made from an old book cover. This one I don't think I'll have to embellish on the outside at all. I think it's beautiful. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKzyRxWZgLrTp06c8_PHEl0VKhcFAkkSd6Xx2RIyQhQn4DBHPW88M6fX-9vraFmyDyQRydk2yrYTvWMD2Iicc2gmoyallxy0ejhL4kQCqdH-2IoULBv1G3Ll2h3J05drKhzdgFtmx-GxON/s1600/ebonyswanjournalcover.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKzyRxWZgLrTp06c8_PHEl0VKhcFAkkSd6Xx2RIyQhQn4DBHPW88M6fX-9vraFmyDyQRydk2yrYTvWMD2Iicc2gmoyallxy0ejhL4kQCqdH-2IoULBv1G3Ll2h3J05drKhzdgFtmx-GxON/s400/ebonyswanjournalcover.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This isn't a great picture, but everything is in gold relief. The emblem on the front cover is a gold iris. The cover is slightly distressed but it won't take much to age it a bit more. The gold lettering and swan to me just add a bit of elegance. Much needed for shabby chic junk journals I think. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
To get the cover off I used an X-Acto knife and a ruler and my hands. It's that easy. </div>

First I lined up the ruler where I wanted to make my cut. If you look down the spine, you can get an idea of where the end pages attach the text block to the cover. What you want to do is cut very gently. Don't go too deep or you'll cut the spine right from the covers. I just scored lightly, then scored again. I just wanted to cut through the two layers of paper there. After you get through the paper there is a layer of backing material. It's usually a webbing type of material.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmAVqOyWPpdG1GT9MMkmEQU2sAgmatSgEgInDCaVl33jgqcc9SpAuYaTQBYxn0rNV8NmsXZS8G_QBbiLbtCcMtiwjPcoX2fn09yfajkgWx8TLqQcphg5yWFuSjO2V7YsXHOHZnhXTOFcT4/s1600/ebonyswanjournalcover6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmAVqOyWPpdG1GT9MMkmEQU2sAgmatSgEgInDCaVl33jgqcc9SpAuYaTQBYxn0rNV8NmsXZS8G_QBbiLbtCcMtiwjPcoX2fn09yfajkgWx8TLqQcphg5yWFuSjO2V7YsXHOHZnhXTOFcT4/s400/ebonyswanjournalcover6.jpg" width="400" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-kCnSnUpkLGPFEYRtFVZSo0_0Wum95tOrRNkcz96lurr6CkYCRLBtxnbPZRu3drOrAnxgA5Botq5UPb_y-N9yOMUauFnTtJt7lc2KkGdSrpnX4CbOUt6EGRoHR3LnvV0dYgxYq-33umla/s1600/ebonyswanjournalcover3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-kCnSnUpkLGPFEYRtFVZSo0_0Wum95tOrRNkcz96lurr6CkYCRLBtxnbPZRu3drOrAnxgA5Botq5UPb_y-N9yOMUauFnTtJt7lc2KkGdSrpnX4CbOUt6EGRoHR3LnvV0dYgxYq-33umla/s400/ebonyswanjournalcover3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You just keep going down both sides of the hinge until the entire text block is removed.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
There you are! You have removed the guts of the book! You can now use the book pages for anything your heart desires, and you have a cover for journal, or you make a book safe out of it to hide your valuables or your treasured trinkets. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

Here I've measured the spine. You can tell where to measure because of the wear marks on the spine. You will almost always have a gap between the actual spine and the book boards on case binding. It allows for the hinge to do it's job and your book to open and close correctly. I will be cutting a piece of card stock to use as a hidden spine to sew my signatures on to so I don't mess up this beautiful spine. You can however sew your signatures in anyway you see fit. There are long stitch methods that can be found all over the internet. Just use your Google Fu and let your fingers do the walking. Youtube has a ton of tutorials on signature sewing, and you can find the one that you like best.<br />
<br />
That's all for now, next week I'll post the signature sewing and embellishing! See you then!<br />

We can make do, and creatively substitute items for other items. But, oh how nice it is though to have exactly what you want, or the ability to purchase what you need without having to travel an hour one way. I've recently gained that ability with the opening of our local Hobby Lobby. It was so nice to be able to walk through the doors and take in all that crafty goodness. My husband, kids and I perused the aisles for well over an hour, and unfortunately there was so much inventory missing because the store was hit hard in the last 5 days. I talked to a manager who said they couldn't keep the merchandise on the shelves! Which is great since we are in a rural area. That means that Hobby Lobby has filled a niche that was grossly empty for a long time in our area.<br />
We have aisles of papers, paints, and yarns, oh my! It's like Christmas! Until April 16th 2016 they are having a major sale on paper crafts, I'm talking 1/2 off sale! My husband got me a gift card for an early birthday present. I bought a stamp set, inks pads, a bunch of vintage looking tags, a package of craft paper card stock, textured papers, faded papers, two large books of vintage papers, a paper cutter, and some paints all for 34 bucks! My total savings was over 30 dollars! I don't know about you, but saving money on crafting supplies makes me very, very happy!<br />

I made a pin the nose on Olaf, and the kids went wild for it! My husband got better pictures of it then I did, but I had to be hostess and the baby wouldn't go to anyone else. I guess he got overwhelmed by all of the people in one room. Any who, to make my Olaf, I used a big piece of cardboard, the front was already white. You could do this with poster board or a trifold like they use for science projects. I sketched Olaf out from a picture I found online. and then I laid a grid over him using half inch squares.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2ohyphenhyphends2zWNkhoYUYVc7-nvdIuX083uJoj4wIy-bcfcBt5TWZT9k5y95rDGWm2QEyF2KtliLd-0-GLi12bm5WZLUBKYb0stYEP_M3xMO5Pyd9PGSeJqWVXj-Yy6XLzK82WdH6oAZuwEyxB/s1600/olaf+-+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2ohyphenhyphends2zWNkhoYUYVc7-nvdIuX083uJoj4wIy-bcfcBt5TWZT9k5y95rDGWm2QEyF2KtliLd-0-GLi12bm5WZLUBKYb0stYEP_M3xMO5Pyd9PGSeJqWVXj-Yy6XLzK82WdH6oAZuwEyxB/s320/olaf+-+1.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
The original picture was 5 1/2 inches wide by 7 inches tall. I needed it 3 times this size, so I made each half inch square equal to 2 inches. I then marked a 2X2 grid on the large sheet of white cardboard. I know this next picture is light, but I had to lay the grid down lightly so I could erase after I inked it. I have to use a grid for resizing my drawings, that's jus the way I taught myself. I have a hard time keeping things where they belong. LOL <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I know the picture is a light. I just wanted to show you how lightly I had to draw in in order to be able to erase the grid after I inked in the outlines.</div>

And here's our friendly snowman waving, sans nose of course. Speaking of noses, I winged it with the nose. I drew a few, and cut them out, held them over where Olaf's nose would normally go, and when I got the correct size, I made a dozen out of orange construction paper and cut them out. I used double sided tape to stick them on. After I twirled each child and sent them in the direction of Olaf, I prepped the next nose while the first child was placing their nose on Olaf. Our kids at the party had a blast. After the first go round we did another round and Olaf had extra noses, and some carrot toes, and even a carrot unicorn horn!<br />

I know I said I was horrible at cake decorating, and it's true. My cupcake skills are slightly better. I was actually very proud of how these turned out!</div>
